Danielle D. Dickens, Ph.D.



Danielle Dickens is one of the co-founders of Beneath the Facade, a digital community and psycho-educational resource for African American female millenials. She received her bachelors of art degree in Psychology from Spelman College and doctorate degree in Social Psychology from Colorado State University. Currently, she is a Assistant Professor at Spelman. Her research interests include examining psychological and health outcomes of holding multiple marginalized identities, and perceptions of risk and risky health behaviors associated with HIV/AIDS among underrepresented populations. About Us

Veronica Y. Womack, Ph.D.



Veronica Womack is a Social Psychologist in Chicago, Il. Veronica received her bachelors of science and doctorate in Psychology from Howard University. As an epidemiology postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University, she published research on health behaviors, stress, and discrimination. She currently serves as a social scientist for the Scientific Careers and Research Development Group at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where she studies the motivational factors of career decisions among graduate students. Mission Statement


Beneath the Façade aims to provide a community space of resiliency and support for Black women and girls in the workplace and the classroom. We want to use conversations and psychology to empower Black women and girls in identifying and coping with devaluing experiences.

Georica Gholson, Ph.D.

Lead Content Developer


Georica Gholson is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Washington, DC area. Presently, Dr. Gholson provides psychological evaluations for adolescents and children.​ She obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Memphis and doctorate in Psychology from Howard University. Dr. Gholson completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Nursing, where she explored gender and racial/ethnic health disparities among youth and adults with type 1 diabetes. Prior to her postdoctoral fellowship, she completed an APA-accredited internship at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago, IL. Curriculum Vitae
